Ghosts

October 17, 2021 by Katelyn Demidow

There’s not enough words but too many words.

A black and white photo of Katelyn sitting on her knees while leaning forward and holding herself up with her arms. She is looking down at her bed. She is wearing a black crop and high waisted underwear- Leaves and the Venus of Willendorf can be seen on them. The whole image is over exposed and gritty.
Am image of the roofline of a worn shed. The sky is grey with clouds. Ivy hangs from the roofline. It is orange from age.
An image looking through a window onto a maple tree who’s leaves have turned orange and red during autumn. There is a reflection of a red house in the glass. Dead leaves are scattered all over the ground.
An ant’s eye view, looking up towards the tops of a birch tree. An evergreen tree peaks into view in the bottom corner. The yellowing leaves of the birch tree are highlighted in the setting sun.
Katelyn squats while taking a photo of herself in an aged mirror that sits on the ground outside. Her phone covers her face in the reflection of the mirror. The photo is in black and white.
A birds eye view looking down on a deck covered in fallen, yellow and brown leaves. Katelyn’s legs and feet are in view.
A blooming crocus flower, with saffron ready to harvest.
A photo of a marigold bush from Katelyn’s garden. There is a fuzzy native bee who has tucked its head into the petals and has fallen asleep.
